Relife Work at kerala

In the Madras YMCA board meeting held immediately after the devastating floods in Kerala,it was felt to help the flood victims in a suitable way. After discussing with concerned authorities, it was proposed to reconstruct one of the heavily damaged schools in kerala and a list was provided to us from among them we selected Kunchome Upper Primary School in Wayanad. Madras YMCA Board of Directors Mr.Rajjiv George, Mr. B. Ravikumar David and Mr. N.T.N.Gideon Thangaraj coordinated the project. Salient features of the project are, 1) Reconstruction of the damaged compound walls, 2) Construction of three new class rooms, 3) Construction of separate toilet block for girls and boys, 4)Total painting of all the buildings, 5) Demolition of a building which was declared unfit (equal area was constructed newly), and 6) Providing play area for students.Madras YMCA had spent over 40 Lakhsfor the project.

          The school was rededicated on 19th of July 2019 by the Chief Guest Hon. Justice Jacob Benjamin Koshy,NationalPresident of NCYI, in the presence of Adv. M.J. Martin Kennedy, President, Mr.P.Asir Pandian, General Secretary & CEO, Er.M.M.Selavakumar Vice-President of Madras YMCA,the Chairman and members of Wayanad Subregion of YMCA and the authorities from the Education Department like DEO,Head Mistress of the school,teachers and students.
